2018-07-25: A suggestion was made at the July 2018 Tech night to have a club project of a GPSDO (GPS Disciplined Oscillator) based on a project that David VK5KK has working. It has a GPS, a 10 MHz disciplined oscillator and a processor of some sort with a LCD display. It shows time and date, (could this be rearranged to be date and time in 2018-07-25 13:14:15 format?). This function alone would be really great for contesting, to know ZULU time and your location, possibly with Grid Squares as well as Latitude and Longitude.
2018-07-25: From VK5WX Graeme: For some time, I have had the idea to remotely control a radio in the car with a control box that could be fitted into a standard DIN format car console slot. My idea is to have the essential things like off-on, volume, mute, frequency display, mode select (USB, LSB, CW, AM, FM etc) mike input, speaker and or earphones output, separate PTT, CW key input (with Iambic keyer built in) these would be great for portable – contesting operation … the list goes on.
